The Department of Chemistry, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad is organizing a 3-day international chemistry conference entitled “21st International, 1st Inter-Islamic, & 33rd National Chemistry Conference on Chemical Sciences: Technology, Innovation & Sustainability" (Chemcon2023) during October 23-25, 2023 at QAU, Islamabad, Pakistan. Chemcon2023 is a premier event that addresses the new advancements and challenges in the field of Chemistry. Chemcon2023 aims to provide an opportunistic forum and vibrant platform for researchers and industry practitioners to share their original research work and practical development experiences on specific new challenges and emerging issues.

QAU was established by the Government of Pakistan in the newly built capital city for teaching and research programs leading to MPhil and Ph.D. degrees in 1967. Quaid-i-Azam University is known for its academic excellence and has been persistently rated as the top-ranking university in Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and international ranking agencies, such as QS (2024 ranking, 315 World ranking), and ranked 98th in Asia by the World University Ranking. The Department of Chemistry began with the establishment of the university as an institute of international standards for postgraduate studies in chemical sciences in 1967.

The Department of Chemistry offers Ph.D., MPhil, and BS degree programs specializing in Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Inorganic/Analytical Chemistry. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art research laboratories, computational facilities, and equipment (NMR, XRD, LCMS, GCMS, FTIR, HPLC, GPC, DLS, PL, UTM, Time-resolved spectrometer, DRS, Electrochemical workstations, DSC, AAS, Solar simulator and many more). Research areas include electrochemistry, nano-science and materials chemistry, polymers, organometallics, photochemistry,  energy conversion and storage, coordination chemistry, environmental science, drug designing, and natural products. High research productivity, foreign-qualified faculty, and research funding from national and international agencies.
