Ms. Rudaba Ahmad, an alumna of the Department of Chemistry BS (2019-2023) embarked on an exciting academic pursuit by pursuing a Master's degree in Chemical Nanoengineering (CNE) through the esteemed Erasmus Mundus scholarship program in September 2023. This unique joint Master's program has provided her with the opportunity to study in various European cities, including Marseille (France), Wrocław (Poland), and Rome (Italy), with the final thesis semester to be chosen in any European country of her preference. She has now successfully completed her first semester, alongside a one-month internship focused on electrodeposition, at Aix Marseille University, France. Currently, she is in the midst of her second semester at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland. She is looking forward to graduating in September 2025. We wish her every success in her life.
Ms. Iman Waheed graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Quaid-i-Azam University in 2022. Following her graduation, she embarked on an exciting journey by pursuing a Master's degree in Chemical Nanoengineering through the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship program. This Joint Master's Degree has taken her across Europe, with semesters spent in Marseille (France), Wrocław (Poland), and Rome (Italy). Currently, she is in the fourth and final semester of her Master's thesis, stationed in Montpellier (France), where she has the privilege of collaborating with industry experts. She is anticipating her graduation in September 2024. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
Sharing the journey of Mr. Ahsan Javaid, an alumnus of the Department of Chemistry BS (2017-2021) and M. Phil Physical Chemistry (2021-2023), QAU, have secured admission to a Ph.D. program at the University of Utah (USA), to begin in Fall 2024. The intended research focus will be on Structure-function relationships and nanoscale dynamic processes in soft functional materials. As Ahsan embarks on this new chapter, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for his continued success.
A Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Department of Chemistry alumnus (2021-2023) has achieved a notable accomplishment in his academic journey. He has been awarded an international student scholarship at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia. Currently, he is pursuing a fully-funded PhD in Inorganic Chemistry, focusing on the development of functional inorganic materials for energy storage applications. His research will be conducted at the Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) at KFUPM.
Sharing the journey of Ms. Aiman Shabbir, an esteemed alumna of the Department of Chemistry (2017-2022) at QAU. Aiman accepted a fully funded PhD position at Arizona State University, USA in 2023. Her research is focused on functional nanomaterials for energy storage applications. Aiman’s academic prowess has also been recognized through scholarship offers for PhD programs in chemistry at the University of Kentucky, USA, and Sun Yat-sen University, China. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Aiman and wish her continued success in her academic pursuits and future endeavors.
An alumnus of the Department of Chemistry (2017-2019), QAU. Mr. Muhammad Iftikhar secured a fully funded position at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC)-USA in August 2022 where he completed his graduate Master's degree. He is currently a doctoral student at Lehigh University, Pennsylvania. His research focus is on CO2 capture and reduction.
An alumna of the Department of Chemistry (2018-2022), QAU. Ms. Sajal Arwish (recipient of two Gold Vice Chancellor medals from QAU) has been selected for the DFG-NSF joint research project in the area of polymer electrolytes for applications in Li-ion batteries. As a full-time PhD student, she has joined a physical chemistry research institute (WWU) in Germany. She will collaboratively work as part of her PhD project at Tufts University in the USA to learn the innovative techniques in that lab. She is pursuing a fully funded PhD in Chemistry with research focuses on polymer electrolytes for energy storage applications.
An alumna of the Department of Chemistry BS (2014-2018) and M. Phil Physical Chemistry (2018-2020), QAU, Ms. Maria Azhar has been awarded DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). She is doing a Ph.D in Physics at the Hybrid Nanostructures group at the University of Konstanz. Her research interest includes all perovskite tandem devices. With basics in Chemistry and skills in Physics, she is working on mapping the road towards commercialization of perovskite solar cells. She has represented QAU at various international conferences.
Mr. Muhammad Nasir Hussain has completed his M.Sc. (2011-2013) and M.Phil. (2013-2015) from the Department of Chemistry, QAU. He joined QAU as a Ph.D. student in 2017. During his PhD, he was awarded a prestigious fully funded Commonwealth Split-site Scholarship at the University of Bradford UK under the supervision of Dr. Stephen G Hickey in session 2020-2021. He worked on the versatile synthesis of transition metal oxide-based nanocomposites for electrochemical battery-type supercapacitors. He has published 10 papers in reputed journals and has fulfilled his Ph.D. requirements. He is looking forward to complete his PhD degree soon. We wish him every success in his life.
Ms. Fatima Sajid is a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry at QAU. She was a gold medalist in BS session 2015-2019 and then completed her M.Phil. in Inorganic/Analytical Chemistry from the same department in 2021. During the third year of PhD, she is awarded the prestigious fully funded Commonwealth Split-site Scholarship at the University College London (UCL) under the supervision of Dr. Anna Regoutz. At UCL, she is working on the detailed characterization of oxide composites with 2D materials using laboratory and synchrotron-based X-ray characterization techniques to aid the fabrication of complete sensors. She will also collaboratively work in the diamond light source beamline, Harwell campus; to get insights on synchrotron work.
Ms. Afia Kanwal is a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry at QAU, a shining example of what can be accomplished through perseverance, passion, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Her journey serves as an inspiration to all who dare to dream, reminding us that with dedication and determination, anything is possible. She got a one-week free visit and hands-on work in SESAME, Jordan (2018). She has three publications in well-reputed international journals. Now she has been awarded a prestigious fully funded Commonwealth Split-site Scholarship at the University of Glasgow, Scotland under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Duncan Gregory in session 2023-2024. She is working on Microwave synthesis of Transition metal Dichalcogenides for Electrochemical Applications.
