Biography
Prof. Dr. Zia Ur Rehman is a tenured professor in the Department of Chemistry at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, Pakistan. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Peshawar (1999), followed by an M.Sc. and M.Phil. from QAU (2002 and 2004, respectively). He completed his Ph.D. in 2009 through a collaborative program between QAU and McGill University, Canada, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of organotin(IV) complexes. In 2021–2022, he pursued postdoctoral research at University College London (UCL), where he developed advanced cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries.
Prof. Rehman specializes in the synthesis of metal-based materials with applications in biomedical science, energy storage, and environmental remediation. His research has garnered international recognition, with an H-index of 36 and over 4,500 citations. He is also a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Pakistan, reflecting his distinguished contributions to the field.
In addition to his research, he is an experienced educator and mentor, having supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Phil. students in areas such as nanotechnology, catalysis, and organometallic chemistry. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Dr. Abdus Salam Prize (2011) and the Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman Gold Medal (2017). As an active member of the academic community, he has collaborated with renowned institutions worldwide and played key roles in organizing international conferences.
